Hard Work 01:56
You know that saying - that says hard work beats Talent, When talent does not work hard.. But I dont think that’s accurate, cos if it Was then, we would have all gone far That statement implies you dont need a Strategy as long as you just bombard, but It aint just about work, it’s also Everything else so you gotta work smart Whoever said that working hard was the Key assumed we’re all on the same path This tings like blackjack in the sense That none of us have the same chance, We’re not all dealt the same hand, so you’ve gotta Figure out how you should play your cards and we aint all got the same spades, so If you wanna Dig for a diamond its gunna take more than heart, Can’t you tell? Its about Fate and luck as well, You need to learn to create opportunity and you gotta Know how to leverage well.. in other words Use what you already have, to your ad Vantage and you’ll excell, The more oppor Tunities that you, create the more are gunna Ring on your front door bell, before I for get.. Just out of interest - what do you know Know about compound interest? You can’t Win the game in one move theres loads of small Milestones in which to invest, Just One step forward is progress, If its Working repeat the process you’ll learn a Lot more over the long term, cos the ter Rain is rough and its windswept Graftins just one trade for the jack; So if you wanna win you need to change suits You gotta start wearing different hats But dont try and think in a next mans shoes; Theres so many ways you can win this game that you Might not know which one you should choose Don’t play cards that you think won’t work And just use the ones that are suited to you Aside from the fact that it aint just hard work a Lone, its about your perception too; Your mindsets key to the game so how you gunna Win if you still got a negative view? Sometimes you might get hit with a blackjack and Feel like you’re gunna lose the game soon but Those 6 cards might lead to the win so Reframe it and view them as tools You might say blackjacks not a great ex Ample to use cah its not a team game, That might be true but you cant take part on your Ones - you still need people to play; Life is the dealer, and you still need good Teacher, and you need people to face You learn better form a challenge so its better when the contenders hold some weight Iron sharpens iron, learn from Others and surely you’ll find your way It might seem like im waffling but lemme Explain the point I’m tryna make ..Without people your cards fall flat so your Networks got a big role to be played and It ain’t just what you but who you know Too that contributes to your grade..

ETA 02:30
If you’re on a journey to success, then I don’t Recommend Using the GPS because How can it when it work, when all it does is Show you the route that’s the easiest, if what I just said don’t make no sense then I Don’t really think that you’re Deeping it - You Gotta take the long way to success more Time and there ain’t no cheating it If you’re on a journey to success, then I don’t Recommend Using the GPS - cos The destination ain’t the goal, its about the Journey you take when you’re seeking it Sometimes its gotta go left for it to go Right before you start reaping it If you searched for success in the satnav here’s What it would sound like If you were reading it .. Before we leave out I’ve got a few Tips that might guide you on your way, I can Help you map out a route but that plan Assumes everything else stays the same, The key to completing this journey is making sure you can play some long term games Read the signals of the people around and Watch what they do and not what they say Starting journey from your current location Destination is victory way ,There’s Too many variables right now so I Can’t provide you with an ETA Please be aware - everybody’s journey is Different so the route can still change Buckle up tight, we’re setting off now so Take the first left and continue straight ..Alright, the traffic ain’t heavy its Light as we drive down starters lane; Buss the first left on the exit road so you Dont get lost on the explore page Divert around distraction park and Rejoin the route at Focused Gate, At Each junction be sure to look throughly to See of theres an opportunity to create ..So far the the roads a heads clear but theres Congestion building on the mains we Need to turn off.. It might take us a bit Longer but you ain’t late it’s fate, Proceed with caution ahead cos new Challenges don’t come without new terrain If you get tired or you’re feeling fatigued re- member the importance of taking a break …If you end up going in circles Try a new route before it’s too late and if Getting to your destination by car ain’t Working consider taking the train If you dont get what I mean then lemme Explain this point that I’m trying to make The way that you’re used to working might not Work anymore its time to update I can sense you’re a little frustrated The journeys long and you’re feeling Drained, We’re getting closer to the destination but it Dont look like what you saw in your brain Success is subjective, so my Vision and yours might not be the same Only you can decide how it looks for you You cant navigate this with Waze

about

Make The Ting is an ethos built by Elijah's writing and lectures on creative sustainability. Known as the 'Yellow Squares' on instagram, the regular short notes have helped artists all over the world find a footing in the new landscape they face post covid with rapid change across the whole industry.

Jammz brings Elijah's writing to life in musical form from both of their home genre: Grime. Jammz adapted the lyrics from Elijah's tweets, instagram captions, interviews and an iMessage conversation across one week in February 2023. He recorded in one day in London, with beats coming from an allstar cast of producers: Royal-T, DJ Q, Jack Dat, Hitman Tiga, Insomniak and Gesher.

The album opens up with 'Yellow Square', the foundational principles in the Make The Ting ethos, which sets up 'Close The App', the phrase Elijah has been using for a year as a motivational tool to just get the ideas you want out of the thinking stage and done. 'Too Much' is an exploration of the digital excess we experience and a reminder of how we can renegotiate our relationships with our devices. 'Start With Why' is a take on Simon Sinek's book, which Elijah read in lockdown and helped him reset his focus, and influenced the beginnings of this project. 'Questions' is about all the questions that Elijah gets in his DM's, at lectures and the self doubt we all experience with our creative endeavours. 'It Takes A Village To Raise An Artist' is an exploration of our place in the wider artist community. Jammz skips through thoughts on 'Hard Work' through a metaphor of black jack and dismisses the idea that hard work alone is enough to have breakthroughs creatively. The album closes with the Royal-T produced 'ETA' reminding us to take the scenic route on the journey to success.

In the live space the album will be performed across Club Nights, Lectures and Art Installations globally in 2023 and 2024, with more projects coming on the Make The Ting label to complement it.

The acapella's are included for you to Remix The Ting yourself, send finished results to us, or feel free to redistribute without our permission.
